Day spa in Madrid: a spa day without leaving the centre

A day spa in Madrid usually means one of two things: a trip out of the city to a resort with pools, or a long block of time inside the city in a place that feels like a pause. We can only honestly offer the second, and in a specific shape: up to two hours in a private room, in the Justicia neighbourhood. This guide explains what fits into that format, what does not, and how to build a proper spa day around it without getting in a car.

People search for the best spa in Madrid expecting a single answer, and there is not one. The best choice depends on whether you want water, time, privacy or a very good massage. We will be clear about where we fit and where we do not, so you can plan the day you actually want.

What you can do in the centre

  • A private circuit: sauna, manual body scrub, sensory shower, massage.
  • Up to 120 minutes in a room for you alone, or for two.
  • Walk there and walk home, no transport plan needed.
  • Open Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday from 11:00 to 21:00, and Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 to 22:00. Monday closed.
What you will not find with us

  • Pools or a thermal water area.
  • A steam room.
  • An open day pass to stay for hours.
  • A restaurant inside.

What does “day spa” mean in central Madrid?

In central Madrid, a day spa is less about staying all day and more about giving yourself a clear block of time for a full ritual. The buildings in the centre are old and small, so big water areas are rare. What works here is the private suite format: a sequence of heat, scrub, water and massage, done in one room, booked by the session.

If your idea of a spa day is floating in warm pools from late morning until the evening, that exists outside the city, and it is worth the trip. If your idea is to feel looked after for a couple of hours and still be in the centre for lunch or dinner, the urban format is the better fit.

What fits into two hours

More than people expect. Our 120 minute rituals are the closest thing we have to a spa day, because they string several steps together instead of being a massage alone.

If you are going alone

The Royal Private Suite Experience is 120 minutes for 139 €: private suite with red light sauna, manual body scrub, sensory shower, deep massage and a closing drink. The Longevity Ritual, also 120 minutes, is 169 € and adds an anti stress scalp massage to the circuit. If you have less time, the Detox ritual runs the same sequence in 60 minutes for 69 € or 90 minutes for 89 €. All of them are on the private spa page.

If you are going as a couple

The Royal Suite Experience for two is 120 minutes for 189 €, and the Anniversary Ritual is 120 minutes for 225 €. Both include a private sauna, manual body scrub, a rain shower for two and a synchronised massage with one therapist each. Rain Harmony, at 80 minutes and 199 €, sits in between, and Lovers starts at 169 € for 60 minutes. The prices are for both people. Details on the couples massage page.

If you are three

Group sessions in a private room start at 199 €. It is a good option for a birthday or a hen party that wants something calmer than a night out. See the group spa page.

What a two hour ritual feels like, step by step

Every long ritual follows the same order. Knowing it helps you picture the day.

  1. Welcome. An unhurried arrival and a short conversation about the massage pressure you like.
  2. Sauna. Private heat to warm the body before anything else. Infrared or red light, depending on the ritual.
  3. Body scrub. A full manual scrub, done by the therapist, not a product you apply yourself.
  4. Sensory shower. The moment of transition, and the part people tend to remember.
  5. Massage. The core of the session, draining, deep or revitalising depending on what you chose.
  6. Closing. A drink and time to get dressed without rushing back to the street.

Spa day in the centre vs a spa day outside Madrid

Aspect Private ritual in the centre Resort or thermal spa outside the city
Time 60 to 120 minutes per session Half a day or a full day
Water Private sensory or rain shower Pools, jets, often a steam room
Privacy Room for you alone or for two Shared areas with other guests
Getting there Metro or on foot Car or transport, with travel time both ways
Main event Scrub and massage with a therapist Time in the water, treatments as extras
Rest of the day Free for lunch, a museum or dinner nearby Usually spent at the venue

How to build a spa day around the session

The session is two hours, but the day can be longer if you plan the edges. A few ideas that work well in this part of the city.

  • A slow late morning. Book an 11:00 or 12:00 ritual, then walk to a long lunch in Chueca or Chamberí. Nothing to catch, nowhere to drive.
  • The after work reset. A 19:00 session midweek, then straight home to a quiet evening.
  • The Saturday evening. On Saturdays we close at 22:00, so a two hour ritual starting at 20:00 runs right up to closing and leaves you perfectly placed for a late Madrid dinner.
  • A visitor’s afternoon off. If you have been walking museums for days, a two hour ritual after the Prado or before dinner is easier on the legs than a trip out of town.

If the weather is good, give yourself ten minutes on foot before and after. Walking up through Chueca or along the quieter streets of Justicia is part of the calm, and it means you arrive already slowing down instead of straight off a crowded train. After the session, the same short walk helps you land before going back to the rest of the day.

One tip: do not stack a heavy meal right before. Heat, scrubbing and a deep massage feel better on a light stomach. And if you have a health condition, are pregnant or have had recent surgery, tell us when you book and check with your doctor if you are unsure about the sauna. A spa ritual is a wellness experience, not a medical one.

How to choose between two hours in the centre and a day outside

Neither format is better than the other: it depends on what you value. Ask yourself these questions before deciding which one to book.

  • Do you want water or treatment? Pools point outside the centre. A scrub and massage point to a studio.
  • Do you want to share the space? If not, look for private rooms rather than day passes.
  • How long do you really have? Count travel time. A two hour ritual ten minutes from home can give you more rest than a day spa with three hours on the road.
  • What do reviews say, and how many are there? Our Google listing has a 4.6 average with more than 170 reviews. Volume is what makes an average worth trusting.
  • What exactly is included? Ask whether the sauna, scrub and shower are part of the price or extras.

If you are still weighing up the two formats, our guide to how a city centre spa actually works sets out the criteria in more detail.

Booking your spa day

Every ritual can be booked online on its experience page, with live availability. A spontaneous plan often works, especially early in the week. For weekends, evenings or two people, a few days of margin is the sensible rule: it gives you a real choice of start time rather than whatever is left. You can also call or message us on +34 877 24 89 34.

The studio is in Justicia, at Calle Justiniano 9. Chueca and Alonso Martínez are the closest metro stops, and Gran Vía and Banco de España are within walking distance, which is rather the point of a spa day you can reach without a car. Opening hours: Monday closed; Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday 11:00 to 21:00; Thursday to Saturday 11:00 to 22:00.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a day spa with pools in central Madrid?

Large thermal areas are rare in the historic centre because the buildings are small. We do not have pools. If pools are essential, look at resorts outside the city. If a private circuit with sauna, scrub, shower and massage is enough, it fits in the centre.

How long is your longest ritual?

120 minutes. For one person, the Royal Private Suite Experience (139 euros) and The Longevity Ritual (169 euros). For two, the Royal Suite Experience (189 euros) and the Anniversary Ritual (225 euros).

Can I stay after my session to relax?

Each ritual ends with a closing moment and a drink, with time to get dressed calmly. We work by booked sessions, so there is no open access to stay on for hours afterwards.

What should I bring?

Nothing. Everything you need for the ritual is at the studio. Come on a light stomach and a few minutes early so the session does not start in a rush.

Can I book a spa day for the same day?

Often, yes. One in four of our bookings is for the same day. Long rituals, evening slots and weekends fill first, so book a few days ahead if you need a specific time.

In short

A spa day in Madrid does not have to mean leaving the city. In the centre, it means two focused hours: heat, scrub, shower and massage in a private room, and the rest of the day free. If pools are the point, go further out. If being looked after is the point, you can walk to it.

A conscious and elevated self-care experience in the heart of Madrid.
